On a sunny weekend, middle-aged man Mike (Martin Henderson) drives his wife Cindy (Christina Hendricks), son Luke (Lewis Pullman), and daughter Kinsey (Bailee Madison) on a long journey. They are headed to a city where relatives live, intending to send the rebellious Kinsey to a new boarding school. Tensions rise along the way, and when they arrive at a camping site late at night, they find it deserted. Luke takes it upon himself to guide his sister.
