In 1983, Manhattan, New York. War veteran Hector Negron (played by Laz Alonso) is working at a post office. One day, he suddenly draws a gun and kills a stranger customer, after which the police discover a sculpture of the goddess of peach blossoms in his home. In the harsh winter of 1944, in Tuscany, Italy. Four African American soldiers from the U.S. 92nd Division—Aubrey Stamps (played by Derek Luke), Pershing Cummings (played by Michael Ealy), Sam Train (played by Omar Benson Miller), and Hector—get separated from their main unit while trying to rescue an Italian boy named Angelo, and find themselves surrounded in a local village called St. Anna. In this language-barriered Italian village, the local villagers initially regard them with suspicion. However, as the battle progresses, they gradually earn the villagers’ welcome and respect. They transcend race, class, and nationality, creating a great miracle that is celebrated by the world with their bravery and faith.
