During the reign of the 10th King of Joseon, King Yeonsan, the performers Jangsaeng (played by Kim Yoo-seong) and Kongji (played by Lee Jun-ki) come to the capital Hanyang to make a living because they refuse to join the local entertainers' troupe. At this time, the tyrant King Yeonsan (played by Jung Jin-young) is obsessed with his favorite concubine, Jang Nuksu (played by Kang Seong-yeon), leading to chaos in the court and the suffering of the people. Jangsaeng and Kongji start performing a comedic satire of the monarch on the streets, gaining great popularity but end up getting arrested. They are later requested to perform in front of the king to elicit a laugh. Fortunately, due to Kongji's quick thinking, King Yeonsan bursts into laughter. The two are then kept in the palace for entertainment, with Kongji earning the king's special favor due to his beauty. They continue to perform, but the ministers have their own ulterior motives, leading to a bloody scenario. Ultimately, what fate awaits the king and the entertainers?
