In the 16th century, an unnamed alchemist created a device called "Devil's Silver Claw (Cronos)" in pursuit of eternal life. It can prolong human life and restore youth and vitality, but it also demands a corresponding price from humanity. After several twists of fate, the statue containing the Devil's Silver Claw falls into the hands of a kind antique dealer, Jesús Gris (played by Federico Luppi). He inadvertently discovers this device and its hidden secrets, which leads him to become dependent on it, allowing the Devil's Silver Claw to transform him into a bloodthirsty monster seeking youth. Meanwhile, the frail wealthy man, Angel de la Guardia (played by Ron Perlman), learns that the Devil's Silver Claw is in Jesús's possession and will stop at nothing to obtain it, even committing murder…… The film is the feature debut of director Guillermo del Toro and won multiple awards at the 1993 Ariel Awards in Mexico, including Best Actor, Best Director, Best First Work, Best Original Story, Best Production, Best Screenplay, and Best Special Effects.
