Carl (Jon Favreau) has shown impressive culinary talent since childhood. As an adult, he becomes the head chef at a renowned restaurant in Los Angeles; however, this job fails to bring him joy or fulfill his culinary ideals and aspirations, as his boss (Dustin Hoffman) is a volatile and overbearing jerk. In a fit of anger, Carl quits this dream job and heads to Miami, where he reconnects with his ex-wife (Sofía Vergara) and friend (John Leguizamo). The three adults, along with a beat-up car, establish a mobile restaurant. Driving this food truck filled with Carl’s dreams, the group embarks on a long journey, during which Carl must face not only his changing state of mind but also the complexities of his relationships with his ex-wife and child.
