In the late 1960s America, amidst the brutalities of war and the seemingly unbelievable achievement of landing on the moon, young people sought to connect with themselves and the world. In a small town near White Lake, New York, a Jewish youth named Elliot (played by Demetri Martin) sacrifices his designer job in New York to return home and help manage the family motel business to support his stingy mother. To improve the struggling operation, Elliot takes advantage of his position as the local chamber of commerce president and plans a routine music festival. Meanwhile, the first Woodstock Music Festival has been halted due to opposition from the local government where it was originally set to take place. Elliot seizes this opportunity and invites the organizers to relocate the festival to his hometown. The local residents worry about the potential dangers posed by the hippie audiences. Elliot's announcement at the press conference to waive ticket fees attracts music enthusiasts from all over, resulting in an audience of hundreds of thousands, turning the venue into an independent republic engulfed in celebration. As the festival unfolds, Elliot’s family issues begin to ease… This film is based on the memoirs of Elliot Tiber.
