The story takes place in Boston, where Nick, played by Ben Barnes, is an ambitious Italian-American young man who joins the Boston Mafia, determined to make a name for himself, only to find that this criminal organization is no longer as powerful as it once was. So, Nick betrays his boss (played by Harvey Keitel from "Reservoir Dogs" and "Bad Lieutenant"), sets up his own operation, and expands his territory, hoping to recreate the glory of the past. With money in one hand and a beautiful woman (played by Leighton Meester) in the other, Nick is completely unaware that he is walking on the edge of a dangerous cliff.
