On August 7, 1974, French high-wire artist Philippe Petit (played by Paul McGill) achieved an astonishing feat between the two towers of New York's World Trade Center, standing at 110 stories high (412 meters) — he strung a tightrope across the heavens and performed a daring act that lasted for 45 minutes. No one could have imagined that this shy 25-year-old boy, with the help of his friends, meticulously planned and navigated countless obstacles to pull off this extremely dangerous and crazy “artistic crime” without anyone noticing. Philippe knelt and lay on the wire, sometimes walking slowly, other times dancing. The film delicately captures the exhilarating moments of that day and vividly reenacts the scene, supplemented by interviews and various storytelling techniques, making this documentary about pursuing dreams between the World Trade Center incredibly precious in the wake of the 9/11 events in America. This biographical documentary, co-produced by BBC, Discovery, and the UK Film Council, titled "The Walk," won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature at the 81st Academy Awards in 2009, the Best British Film at the 62nd British Academy Film Awards in 2009, and was nominated for Best Documentary at the 21st European Film Awards in 2008.
