"Four Restraints" is originally a Buddhist term referring to wine, sex, wealth, and desire. The film humorously interprets these four societal phenomena. Zhang Hongxue (played by Feng Lei) is a boss who made a fortune from coal mines. There is a saying that a full belly tends to indulge in lust. One day, he falsely claims to buy a house and goes to Hangzhou with a large sum of money to meet his lover, He Yanfei (played by Jiang Yijia), from a TV station. At the airport, he takes a black taxi driven by Wu Qingsong (played by Jiang Ke), who learns Zhang's secret of carrying a large amount of cash during a casual chat. Wang Dengyun (played by Wang Mengyue), an insurance salesman, also meets Zhang through business and discovers he is a big boss. Thus, two cunning characters, driven by greed, plot to get their hands on the money. Meanwhile, He Yanfei, influenced by others, conspires with Zhang but ends up being accidentally killed. Everyone becomes ensnared in the labyrinth of greed for money, and the final outcome is initiated by a sudden car accident...
