Lionel Twain (Truman Capote) invites five world-renowned detectives to his mysterious mansion for a dinner party. They are New York amateur sleuth Dick Charleston (David Niven), Belgian detective Milo Perrier (James Coco), Shanghai inspector Sidney Wang (Peter Sellers), British woman Jessica Marbles (Elsa Lanchester), and Sam Diamond from San Francisco (Peter Falk). No one knows what deadly intentions lie behind this perilous invitation, but the five detectives each bring a relative or friend to the enigmatic estate. However, Lionel is absent, and they are met with a series of meticulously planned murder events. Truman Capote received a nomination for Best New Male Actor at the 34th Golden Globe Awards in 1977 for this film.
