On the African grasslands, a cruel dance has been unfolding unchanged for centuries. Due to human hunting and land development, the number of lions has sharply declined, and their living space continues to shrink. The territory of lioness Matlathao's family is challenged by migrating lion prides. In the struggle for territory, Matlathao loses her male lion and must escape with her three cubs in search of a new home. During their journey across a river, one cub dies, but Matlathao and the remaining two successfully reach a small island named "Duba." After recovering, the island is visited by a herd of buffalo that has also been forced to migrate. Matlathao gradually learns to hunt buffalo while continuing to evade attacks from other lion prides and facing competition from hyenas. Is "single mother" Matlathao and her cubs a reflection of the last lions on Earth? The once-mighty king of beasts now struggles to survive.
