The father of Prince Romulus of Rome (played by Thomas Sangster), Orestes (played by Iain Glen), is killed by rebels, while Romulus is held captive by the enemy on the island of Capri. Before he dies, Orestes entrusts his son’s fate to General Aurelius (played by Colin Firth), urging him to rescue his son and restore the throne of the Roman Empire to its rightful lineage. Aurelius, fiercely loyal to the emperor, teams up with the Ethiopian Batatius (played by Nonso Anozie) and Ambrosinus (played by Ben Kingsley) to form a suicide squad for an expedition. Subsequently, the brave warrior Maria (played by Aishwarya Rai) also joins them, and the group sets off for Capri. On the island, Romulus and his mentor are desperately searching for a last glimmer of hope for survival.
