A story about two left-behind children, Yan Zi and Chen Lu, and a young entrepreneur, Teacher Zhang, from ten years ago. The two 15-year-old girls are in the third year of junior high at a rural middle school in Guizhou, and Teacher Zhang, a young entrepreneur passionate about public welfare, takes on the role of music teacher at the school. As they both wish to join the choir organized by Teacher Zhang, one girl has a "hundred bird coat," while the other does not, leading them to face a choice. Meanwhile, Chen Lu faces another choice, as she contemplates giving up her studies due to her family circumstances. As a friend, Yan Zi continuously persuades Chen Lu to abandon this thought and, with Teacher Zhang's support, return to her studies.
