Vimisrax is an evil dragon that constantly wreaks havoc, and the entire kingdom has not known a day of peace under its torment. The cowardly king, in order to save his kingdom, has agreed to sacrifice a pure girl to the dragon every month, a decision that fills everyone in the kingdom with anger and panic. Yulrich (portrayed by Ralph Richardson) is a powerful wizard, and the people seek him out, hoping to enlist his help in fighting the evil dragon. However, Yulrich is too old, so everyone places their hopes for freedom on his apprentice, Galyan (portrayed by Peter MacNicol). Thus, Galyan embarks on a perilous journey; he must defeat the dragon before the next sacrificial victim is taken, and the next victim happens to be the princess of the kingdom.
