Twelve dream-filled young people are admitted to the American Ballet Academy, staging a "dance drama of life" about youth and passion. With six of them having the opportunity to join the American National Ballet Company at year's end, the young dancers begin meticulous preparations for the performance that will determine their futures. Dance director Jonathan (Peter Gallagher) and ballet dancer Cooper (Ethan Stiefel) become rivals as they lead their respective ballet productions, intensifying the atmosphere. Jonathan selects the excellent Morrian (Susan May Pratt) and exceptionally talented Eva (Zoe Saldana) to perfectly interpret a classic ballet; meanwhile, Cooper chooses the less-than-perfect Judy (Amanda Schull), deciding to stage a completely subversive ballet. The battle between classic and subversion will ultimately decide the fate of the three girls!
