In the tumultuous 1940s and 1950s, love was certainly not easy to come by—just a token of affection, a love song, or a promise was enough to keep lovers deeply connected. A complex police officer, Fang Daolong (played by Liu Qingyun), encounters the legendary woman Chen Yuerong (played by Tang Wei), and their love story spans across three cities: they fall in love in Anhui, part ways in Shanghai, yet still hold onto a promise—to reunite in Hong Kong. That night, Fang Daolong waits by the shores of Hong Kong Island for the small boat carrying Yuerong to arrive, but unexpectedly, the boat encounters trouble. Will Yuerong be able to reach the port safely and start a new life with Daolong? The film is based on a true story, telling the love story of a previous generation.
