The handsome Song Ji-won (played by Kang Dong-won) is an intelligence officer from North Korea. Under the leadership of an old spy known by the codename 441, they break into an apartment in Seoul and assassinate defectors from their own country and their family. During this process, they are chased by South Korean security forces. After a fierce gun battle, Song Ji-won and others manage to escape, but he is deemed to have had treasonous intentions by his superiors and is subsequently abandoned. On the other hand, the failure of the operation leads to the dismissal of South Korean task force leader Lee In-kyu (played by Song Kang-ho), who is forced to open a detective agency to make a living tracking down runaway Vietnamese brides. Soon, Kim Jong-il and Kim Dae-jung have a historic meeting, easing tensions between North and South Korea. Six years later, Lee In-kyu unexpectedly encounters Song Ji-won at a Vietnamese factory. He hopes to capture Ji-won and the mysterious shadow for profit, while Ji-won also seeks to use In-kyu to clear his name of treason. With their ulterior motives, the two end up living under the same roof, and as they get to know each other better, their thoughts gradually change...
