Teenage girl Lin Xiaoyang (played by Yang Lin) loves reading comics and often imagines herself as the protagonist of the shoujo manga "Daughter of the Nile" by Chikusa Tomoko. She lives in bustling Taipei, working as a clerk at KFC during the day and attending night school. Xiaoyang lives in a modest bungalow with her family, and her grandfather (played by Li Tianlu) is a witty old man. Her father (played by Cui Fusheng) is a police officer in Chiayi and frequently away on duty. After her mother passed away, Xiaoyang takes on her mother's responsibilities, caring for her aging father and younger sister, while constantly worrying about her brother. Her brother (played by Gao Jie) co-owns a restaurant with friends, working during the day and stealing at night, yet he manages to take care of the family. When conflicts arise between her father and brother, Xiaoyang always sides with her brother. She has a crush on her brother's friend A San, unaware that A San loves someone else. Various realities make her feel anger, sadness, and despair, leading her to mature and awaken after facing setbacks.
