Old Liu (played by Zheng Junjin), the driver of the Wang family, has a daughter named Pearl (played by He Lili) who is naturally smart and beautiful. She attends university and, although she is already twenty years old, has never had a romantic experience. Her best friend and classmate, Lansi (played by Huang Shali), often teases her about this, but Pearl just smiles it off. One day, at Lansi's birthday party, Pearl meets the wealthy young man Wang Zhenhua (played by Lin Feng), and they fall in love at first sight. It turns out Wang Zhenhua is the eldest son of the Wang family, for whom Old Liu works. The elderly patriarch suffers from rheumatism and, although he is the nerve center of the Wang family, he has been wheelchair-bound for years. Zhenhua is the sole heir to the Wang family's fortune and the general manager of the Wang company. The patriarch is very strict with Zhenhua, and even though he is in his twenties, he still assigns Old Liu to pick him up and drop him off, indirectly supervising him to prevent him from interacting with women from the outside world. At the ball, Zhenhua and Pearl have a chance encounter. Considering their different social standings, Old Liu fears that the situation might threaten his job, so he "abducts" Pearl. Pearl, not wanting to cause trouble for her father, falsely reports her identity and address, leading to many comedic situations. Fortunately, in the end, Zhenhua's father is very pleased with this girl who resembles his deceased wife, and the lovers end up together.
