Plot Summary: Patrick Suavage (played by Jean-Claude Van Damme) has just returned from three years of war in Afghanistan and Iraq, and is now employed in a private capacity as a bodyguard. His client is a former world heavyweight boxing champion who runs an underground fight club. To ensure the client’s safety, Van Damme assembles an experienced fighting team called "The Hard Corps." Behind the Scenes: The film is directed by Sheldon Lettich, who was previously a screenwriter for "Bloodsport." This film catapulted Van Damme to fame, and Lettich later directed him in "Double Impact" and "Lionheart." "The Hard Corps" marks the fourth collaboration between director Sheldon Lettich and Jean-Claude Van Damme. Lettich is skilled in creating muscular male characters, and he designed Van Damme’s role as a three-year veteran U.S. soldier who becomes a bodyguard for a boxing champion to make a living. He forms a bodyguard team called The Hard Corps to ensure the champion's safety. The world champion has a sister, and feelings develop between her and Van Damme. Shooting Tidbits: The Lone Hero Returns Filming began in November of last year, primarily in Romania and Canada. Wesley Snipes’ "flip-flopping" added some intrigue to the film. Initially, there were rumors of him playing the boxing champion, but there was no sign of Snipes on set, suggesting he snubbed the idea of being the protected one. With Snipes gone, the focus naturally shifted to Jean-Claude Van Damme, who, despite being an older actor, designed all the fight scenes himself. This film also marks Van Damme's first on-screen partnership with a dog. The villains in the film are sure to be in trouble, as they may not only be kicked around but could also lose their lives to the fierce dog.
