After having a falling out with his girlfriend, Larry Tate (Leslie Mann), real estate agent Steven Kovacs (Matthew Broderick) is forced to move into a new apartment. Soon, cable installer Chip (Jim Carrey) pays a visit. Chip's behavior is eccentric, yet he is very humorous and upbeat. The two become good friends and even plan to hang out. With Chip's guidance, Steven wins back his girlfriend's heart. However, Chip seems overly enthusiastic and increasingly invades Steven's life, causing Steven to feel annoyed and uneasy. Steven begins to consciously distance himself from this oddball, leading to Chip feeling abandoned and harboring a grudge... This film won the 1997 Kids' Choice Awards for Favorite Male Star (Jim Carrey).
