This wuxia film was made in 1971, written and directed by Zheng Changhe. The story describes that the Ming Emperor is suffering from a serious illness and is on the verge of death, yet has no son to inherit the throne; the royal nephew, Crown Prince Jie, could inherit but is found wanting and cannot take on the responsibility. The Emperor's younger brother, Prince Wei, remembers that the Ming Emperor once had children with a princess from the Eastern Palace, who are now hiding in Dongyang County. He orders the Jinyiwei Liu Xuanping (played by Jin Han) to find the whereabouts of the princess and prince.
