In the early years of the Republic, the owner of the Jixian Martial Arts School, Ping Bo, was killed by the Japanese master Gu Lan. His son Tie Wa (Chuan Yuan) went into the mountains to join Da She Tou and entrusted the family’s "Thunder Fist" secret manual to Feng Niu (Wang Jinfeng) for safekeeping. Tie Wa developed a close relationship with Da She Tou's daughter, Hong Die (Shi Si), in the mountains. Meanwhile, Gu Lan's son Gu Gang (Nan Gong Xun) returned from Japan, smitten by Feng Niu's beauty, and sowed discord between her husband Da Xiong (Tong Lin) and Tie Wa. Fortunately, with Feng Niu's mediation, Tie Wa gained Da Xiong's understanding, retrieved the secret manual, and bid farewell to return to the mountains. Later, Da Xiong was defeated in a final battle with Gu Gang and died in an ambush; to refuse Gu Gang's humiliation, Feng Niu chose to commit suicide to preserve her purity. Tie Wa and Hong Die learned of this and descended the mountain to seek revenge for Feng Niu, ultimately relying on the power of "Thunder Fist" to slay Gu Gang.
