This film is an early Huangmei Opera work directed by Chang Cheh. The story revolves around Tian Yuchuan (played by Jin Feng), the son of the magistrate of Jiangxia County, who seeks justice for the father of Hu Fenglian (played by Ding Hong), a fisherman's daughter. He accidentally kills the son of Governor Lu Lin (played by Jing Miao), causing trouble. Yuchuan escapes to the riverside, feeling cornered, and is fortuitously rescued by Fenglian.
