The film tells the story of Alain Marécaux's predicament — it is based on a true case: in 2001, examining judge Utile ordered the arrest of Alain and a dozen other suspects on charges of serious child trafficking, but the suspects refused to plead guilty. This incident suddenly plunged these innocent people into hell, shattering their lives and relationships due to the case. The film takes the perspective of Alain Marécaux to recreate this famous miscarriage of justice in French judicial history, showcasing an incredible, unjust, and inhumane legal system to the audience.
