The original title of the film was "Asian Brothers," telling the story of a group of friends from home and abroad coming together to transform from losers to successful individuals. However, during the process of repeatedly revising the script, everyone felt that this name was not eye-catching enough to reflect the film's positive and humorous tone. Therefore, the title was changed to "방가방가방가." In Korean, “방가방가” is originally an internet buzzword, indicating a greeting similar to "nice to meet you." Although "방가방가방가" expresses joy, it is somewhat tongue-twisting, and after a test screening and audience feedback, the film dropped one "방가," resulting in the more easily pronounced title "방가방가." In addition to borrowing from internet slang, the title also subtly includes the surname of the protagonist "方泰植," as "방" is the corresponding character for "方" in Korean.
At the early planning stage of the film, finding suitable actors became a challenging problem—where to find so many foreign friends who can act? At that moment, crew members happened to see a newspaper article about a singing competition held by KBS, where the winner was a foreign friend and the first foreigner to receive this honor in Korea. The crew immediately contacted him and invited him to participate in the performance. Additionally, there were several foreign actors who had participated in films like "Barefoot Dream," "Itaewon Murder Case," and "The Unseen," and they had certain acting experience.
The film is not only a cheerful reflection of the struggles of small characters but also a confluence and exchange of different regional cultures.
- The main setting of the film is the "Superstar Industry" where the protagonist works, and real factory locations were used for filming, with many real employees appearing in the film.
- There is a key scene reflecting the motorcycle date between the male and female leads. The crew originally designed a romantic scene, but suddenly a heavy snowstorm struck, turning everything into a world of white. The crew decided to embrace the snow and use it as the backdrop for this emotional scene, which surprisingly created an unexpected aesthetic feeling.
- Since the actors participating in the performance came from all over the world, various dietary habits arose due to religious and cultural differences, prompting the crew to take this into account when preparing meals. As a result, the two Muslim actors received special treatment; while everyone enjoyed grilled pork, they had the more expensive beef.
