On a wandering, hollow night, the youthful yet superficial insurance salesperson Yoshino Ishibashi (Hikari Mitsushima) was found dead in the Misese Ridge of Fukuoka. In her lifetime, she dated civil worker Yuichi Shimizu (Satoshi Tsumabuki) through a dating website, but later switched to wealthy university student Keigo Masuo (Masaki Okada), a frivolous decision that directly led to her tragic death. After that, Masuo became the primary suspect and was interrogated by the police. Meanwhile, the tormented Shimizu met the lonely clothing store clerk Mitsuyo Magome (Eri Fukatsu) online, and the two estranged individuals, who empathized with each other, embarked on a desperate escape... This film is based on the original novel by Shuichi Yoshida and won 1st place in the 2010 Kinema Junpo Top 10 Films, as well as Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor in the Japan section; it also received Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Music at the 34th Japan Academy Prize.
