Sakura and Abo are preparing to build a new house, but they don't have enough money. Their uncle and aunt come up with the idea to rent out Ahin's room. Thus, a "Room for Rent" sign is hung outside Tora's house. One day, the whole family is discussing the rental situation when Ahin happens to return home. Upon entering and seeing that his room has been rented out, Ahin becomes furious and, without saying a word, turns and walks toward the station. Sakura quickly chases after him, but Ahin has already run far away. In a fit of anger, Ahin goes to a rental agency to find a cheaper place to live. The rental company claims to have a place and drives Ahin to "the rental apartment of Tora's house." Returning to his own Tora house, Ahin is left dumbfounded, and the rental company guy tells him, "Sir, we agreed on a service fee of 6000 yen..." Ahin becomes even angrier and argues with him. In the end, Abo pays the fee to resolve the matter. That night, Ahin argues at length with his uncle and aunt about his room being rented out and makes several harsh comments about Sakura and Abo's plans to build a house, which eventually makes Sakura cry. After this, Ahin sets off on a trip to the north. In Kanazawa, he encounters Ato, and they meet three tourists from Tokyo at the inn: Utako (played by Sayuri Yoshinaga), Aoi, and Mari. Utako chats and takes photos with Ahin, and they become good friends. Later, Ahin returns to Shibamata. A few days later, Aoi and Mari visit Tora’s house to see Ahin. They talk a lot about Utako, giving Ahin a deeper understanding of her situation. Utako lives with her father, who is a novelist. Her mother went missing when she was young, so now it's up to her to take care of her father's life. Unexpectedly, the next day, Utako comes to Tora's house alone, which surprises and delights Ahin. The whole family warmly welcomes her. Utako already has someone she loves and plans to marry, but her father opposes it. Utako feels uneasy, knowing her father would be lonely if she gets married, which troubles her. Therefore, she decides to seek out Ahin. She stays one night at Tora's house and then visits Abo and Sakura the next day to discuss her feelings with them. As a result, Utako resolves to marry. Unfortunately, Ahin is completely unaware of this and happily goes to Abo and Sakura's place to pick up Utako. On the way back, Utako confesses her determination to marry someone else. Hearing this, Ahin is left speechless, and tears begin to fall uncontrollably...
