In August 1945, the Japanese imperialists announced their surrender. After a brief moment of victory, the Chinese nation, which had suffered from war and turmoil, was about to face a crucial moment that would determine its fate. With Chiang Kai-shek (played by Zhao Hengduo) tearing up the ceasefire agreement, a full-scale civil war erupted between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China. After two years of direct confrontation, the gap between the two sides gradually narrowed, and the situation on the battlefield finally reached a decisive moment. In early 1948, important Communist leaders such as Mao Zedong (played by Gu Yue), Zhou Enlai, and Ren Bishi left their base in Shaanxi and met with the Central Working Committee led by Liu Shaoqi and Zhu De in Hebei. After careful consideration and discussion, the leaders ordered Lin Biao (played by Ma Shaoxin) and his 500,000 troops of the Northeast Field Army to fully launch the Liaoshen Campaign to seize Northeast China. Chiang Kai-shek, who was indecisive about the fate of the Northeast, was forced to respond, and the battle for the fate of the Chinese nation began... This film is a commemorative work for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and is the first part of the trilogy "The Great Battle."
