Anders (played by Anders Danielsen Lie) is about to complete his rehabilitation program in a rural rehab center, and he has become quite restless. As part of the program, Anders is allowed to leave the rehab center to come to the city for a job interview. However, instead of going to the factory interview as planned, Anders spends his time in the city idly wandering around. He greedily watches the people on the street, as it has been a long time since he has seen anyone. As time passes into midnight, and August comes to an end, memories from the past haunt Anders once again, bringing him both pain and despair. Perhaps, with the arrival of dawn and the end of August in Oslo, a new life will come as well. This film was selected for the "Un Certain Regard" section at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
