Rapper Machine Gun Kelly joins the Mötley Crüe biopic "The Dirt," portraying one of the founders, Tommy Lee, while Douglas Booth will play another founder, Nikki Sixx. Directed by Jeff Tremaine of "Jackass" fame, with a script by Rich Wilkes ("XXX"), Tom Kapinos ("Lucifer"), and Amanda Adelson, the film is produced and distributed by Netflix. The film is based on the autobiography "The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band," focusing on the rise of the heavy metal band in the 1980s. Mötley Crüe was formed in Los Angeles in January 1981, featuring bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee, lead vocalist Vince Neil, and guitarist Mick Mars. They released their debut album "Too Fast for Love" in November of the same year, which sold out and received widespread acclaim. The band performed their farewell show on December 31, 2015, with record sales exceeding 100 million copies worldwide, including 25 million in the United States.
