This film tells the story of a family's joys and sorrows over more than 30 years, focusing on one of the children, Zac, who navigates between homosexuality and bisexuality. This work is completely different from other LGBTQ films; you may not reach a final judgment until the very end. However, the family bond and the love and conflicts among parents, siblings, and lovers deeply move one’s heart. The title C.R.A.Z.Y. stands for the initials of the five boys in the family: Christian, Raymond, Antoine, Zac, Yvan. A part of the story goes as follows: there was a person who had a deep faith in God. Every day as he walked, he left behind two sets of footprints—one was his own, and the other was God's. However, during his hardest times, he noticed that there was only one set of footprints. After he overcame his trials, he questioned God, “Why did you say you were with me, yet left me when I needed you the most?” God replied, “In your most difficult times, you saw only one set of footprints; that was when I carried you.” This film was Canada's submission for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 2006 Oscars and has won a total of 37 awards, including the Audience Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival.
