Years ago, a beautiful young girl Quinn Brenner (played by Stefanie Scott) sought out the retired medium Elise (played by Lin Shaye). Quinn's mother passed away a year and a half ago, but she always feels her mother is near, and she longs to speak with her again. Touched by Quinn's sincere emotions, Elise decides to help her, but it seems they establish a connection with a terrifying entity.
