Since the events in New York, Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.) has been plagued by unprecedented anxiety. He throws himself into developing an upgraded version of the Iron Man suit, working tirelessly and even neglecting the feelings of his girlfriend, Pepper Potts (played by Gwyneth Paltrow). Meanwhile, the notorious terrorist leader Mandarin (played by Ben Kingsley) orchestrates a series of bombings, severely injuring Tony's most loyal bodyguard in a recent attack.
