In 1990, a massive spaceship appeared in the skies above Earth, leaving people anxious yet curious. After a period of tense waiting, the alien ship remained silent. Humans finally approached it cautiously and forced their way inside, only to discover countless aliens. They were described as ugly, resembling shrimp, and in very poor health, weak and frail. It turned out that these were a group of extraterrestrial refugees who were ultimately accepted by humans and isolated in a region of Johannesburg, South Africa, known as "District 9."
