The story is set in the near future, where overpopulation and famine have forced the government to implement a "one-child" policy. Because of this strict family planning agenda, the sisters must take turns using a single identity, Karen Settman (played by Rapace). Their grandfather (played by Dafoe) names them Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Each sister is allowed to go out once a week. They can only live freely in their apartment. Until one day, "Monday" doesn't come home...
