In the winter of 1982, a Norwegian research team's helicopter suddenly shattered the tranquility of Antarctica, wildly pursuing a sled dog before crashing near an American research camp. The American team had heard about the recent drastic reduction in the Norwegian team's personnel, so pilot Mac (played by Kurt Russell) and others rushed to the Norwegian camp, only to find a scene of devastation scattered with strange corpses, with evidence suggesting that the Norwegians had encountered some kind of frozen creature. Doctor Blair (played by Wilford Brimley) studied the mutated corpses but couldn't decipher the cause. That night, the dogs in the kennel were attacked and mutated, as an unknown creature threatened the lives of the research team in this desolate Antarctic continent... This film is a remake of "The Thing From Another World," directed by Howard Hawks in 1951.
