Abnormal solar activity is causing the Earth's internal energy balance system to face collapse, and the Mayan prophecy is about to come true, leading humanity to face a catastrophic disaster. Governments around the world have collaborated to secretly build arks in hopes of surviving the disaster. Jackson (played by John Cusack), who makes a living writing science fiction, experiences a series of strange events while taking his kids on a weekend trip to Yellowstone Park and encounters the neurotic Charlie (played by Woody Harrelson), who warns him that the apocalypse is imminent. With volcanic eruptions, powerful earthquakes, and tsunamis, Jackson leads his family in a temporarily rented plane, soaring above the city shrouded in the shadow of death, searching for the arks that governments are secretly building. At this critical moment of life and death, some great spirits will emerge, while some selfish souls will have nowhere to hide. As countless beings arrive at the ark construction site by various means, the limited capacity of the arks causes unprecedented panic. In the end, the remaining people overcome the crisis with love for each other and respect for life. This film is described as an upgraded version of "The Day After Tomorrow," with an investment of over 200 million dollars, and is the latest work of disaster movie master Roland Emmerich.
