Nicholas Angel (played by Simon Pegg) is a senior police officer in London, where catching criminals and solving cases seems to be his greatest joy. As a result, he becomes the most dedicated and capable officer in the precinct. However, this leads to the jealousy of the chief, and poor Nicholas is transferred to a remote, quiet town as a police officer. The town hasn’t seen a serious crime in decades. Nicholas feels quite depressed there, as he believes his skills in apprehending criminals have no outlet. To make matters worse, the police chief's son, Danny Butterman (played by Nick Frost), comes to join him as his partner. This new partner is a huge hassle, constantly asking about experiences in big city policing. Just as Nicholas is frustrated by the town's trivial matters and his clueless partner, a case arises that gives Nicholas a chance to demonstrate his abilities, and an exhilarating battle begins.
