Yang Jiazhen (played by Ma Li), a girl from a wealthy family, insists on marrying the young constable Li Mao (played by Chang Yuan) despite her parents' objections. After marriage, they are deeply in love, but Li Mao can never gain the approval of his father-in-law and mother-in-law; in their eyes, he is even less important than a dog. To impress his wife and her parents, Li Mao thinks of various ways to make a name for himself.
