Norville (played by Tim Robbins) comes to New York to look for a job after graduating from college, and due to his lack of experience, he can only work as a mailroom clerk at a financial company. Soon after, the president commits suicide, and the company's real power falls into the hands of the cunning board member Musburger (played by Paul Newman).
