Roberto (played by Ricardo Darín) is a taciturn old man whose life is forever shadowed by guilt from a past accident. Perhaps out of a desire for self-punishment, he doesn't speak a word and avoids contact with anyone. The sudden arrival of a cow and a Chinese man named A-Jun (played by Ignacio Huang) disrupts Roberto’s peaceful solitude, and he unexpectedly takes in these uninvited guests. A-Jun doesn’t speak Spanish but wants to find his relatives in the local Chinese community, so he has to ask Roberto for help. Unfortunately, both his fellow countrymen and the staff of the Chinese embassy ignore the poor A-Jun, and in the end, it is Roberto who takes him in. Thus, A-Jun becomes a part of Roberto's life, and through their time together, A-Jun's cheerfulness and optimism gradually help Roberto emerge from the shadows in his heart, establishing an unbreakable friendship between them.
