Away from the metropolis, Mutō Station welcomes a beautiful girl, Maiko Koiwa (Maki Horikita). Maiko lives in a Tokyo apartment with her brother, Yoshio (Ryuhei Matsuda), who works at a pachinko parlor. She is striving to become an anime voice actress. Not long ago, their long-absent mother, Ayako (Kimiko Yo), suddenly appeared before the siblings. Yoshio and Maiko are displeased with their mother for abandoning them in the past and are very cold towards Ayako, until Ayako eventually passes away from advanced cancer and Maiko feels no sadness at all. Due to her brother's unavailability, Maiko returns to Mutō with her mother's ashes for the burial. Her arrival causes quite a stir in the local area because Maiko looks exactly like her mother Ayako did when she had dreams of singing in her youth. The sudden appearance of the girl evokes sweet memories from the younger days of people like Imoto (Yoichi Nukumizu) and Haruo (Kaoru Iguchi). During her stay in her mother's hometown, Maiko gradually learns many untold stories about her mother, and her heart begins to stir...
