Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist) is a journalist at Millennium and is investigating the trafficking of underage girls in Eastern Europe. However, as the investigation progresses, his assistant Dag and his girlfriend are brutally murdered. Based on fingerprints left at the scene, all allegations point to Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace). Soon, Salander's new guardian, lawyer Nils Bjurman (Peter Andersson), is also killed in his apartment.
