The movie "Auntie" is adapted from the true story of Gong Quanzhen, a national moral model at the age of 93. It tells the story of the mutual support between General Gan Zuchang and Auntie Gong Quanzhen over thirty years. In 1950, Gong Quanzhen (played by Tao Huimin) enlisted and went to Xinjiang, serving as a teacher at the Bayi Primary School in Xinjiang. She married Gan Zuchang (played by Li Xuejian), the logistics minister of the Xinjiang Military Region, who is eighteen years older than her, through an organizational introduction. Gan Zuchang was injured three times in the war, often suffering from headaches that prevented him from working normally, and he requested to return home to become a farmer. It was unprecedented for a general to return to farming, and it took three years for his request to be approved by the organization. Gong Quanzhen accompanied her husband to Jiangxi, and they faced the trials of their times together, sharing life and death. After Gan Zuchang passed away, Gong Quanzhen carried on his spirit, leading her children to be frugal and hard-working, helping impoverished families and children who had dropped out of school, writing her legendary life with a great love. In 2013, Gong Quanzhen was named a national model of morality and was received by General Secretary Xi Jinping, who affectionately referred to her as "Auntie."
