A young student (played by Eikyu Takahashi) takes a trip during his vacation and encounters a group of traveling kabuki performers while visiting Izu’s Yumoto Island. Among them, a young dancer (played by Sayuri Yoshinaga) with an old-style coiffure and a charming demeanor catches his attention. He deliberately catches up with this group of artists from Bofu Port and accompanies them to Shimoda. Along the way, they share laughter and joy, and the student gradually becomes closer to the troupe, especially infatuated with the underage dancer Akune. In the warm and humid southern land, the student falls into a pure love, while also being troubled by the harshness of reality... Adapted from Yasunari Kawabata's early novella of the same name, this version marks the fourth time this novel has been brought to the screen.
