Dr. Nise da Silveira returned to work at a psychiatric hospital in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro. She refused to use the new high-intensity electroshock therapy to treat patients with schizophrenia. Other doctors ridiculed her, forcing her to work in the hospital's abandoned occupational therapy area. Nise used drawings, small dogs, and love to help patients, initiating a "revolution."
