The film is based on real events, depicting the shocking sniper attacks that took place over three weeks in 2002 in Washington, D.C., and surrounding areas using high-powered rifles. From October 2 to October 24, 2002, 41-year-old Muhammad and his 17-year-old accomplice Malvo carried out a spree of random shootings from their vehicle, resulting in 10 fatalities and 3 injuries, sparking the largest manhunt in U.S. history.
