During the Song Dynasty, Du Qian, who had banded together at Liangshan, was pursued by the newly appointed chief inspector Yan Shao Xin for evidence related to the massacre case of Han Yu Shi. He fled to the back garden of the Chai residence for refuge. Chai Jin, known for his righteousness and generosity, had some acquaintance with Du Qian, so he used the "Dan Shu Tie Quan," a protective amulet granted by Emperor Taizu, to fend off Yan, who had come to search. During this time, Chai Jin unexpectedly obtained a hidden set of mother-and-child swords containing a list of official buyers. In order to uncover the mastermind behind it all, Chai Jin escorted Du Qian back to Liangshan overnight. On the way at Dufeng Mountain, the infiltrator sent to steal the swords revealed himself. Chai Jin then realized that the prefect was actually the one selling official positions, and the supposed protection of Chai Jin was merely to prevent evidence from falling into Yan's hands! Chai Jin and the other guests from the manor worked together to eliminate the corrupt prefect's infiltrator Yuan An and the officials, safely sending Du Qian away. Yan then revealed his identity as a special envoy and sent the original list of official buyers discovered by Chai Jin to the Ministry of Justice! However, no one expected that the real mastermind behind the buying of official positions was not the prefect but Gao Qiu, and in the end, Yan was stripped of his position and reduced to commoner status.
