The story takes place in 12th century France, where a magical and dangerous time-travel potion causes Knight Godfrey (played by Jean Reno) and his servant Jacquouille (played by Christian Clavier) to travel to 21st century Chicago, USA. The drastic changes and bustling streets make these two "antiques" both curious and fearful. Just then, a beautiful woman named Julia (played by Valérie Lemercier) appears before them. Coincidentally, this Julia turns out to be a descendant of Knight Godfrey. Soon, Knight Godfrey and Jacquouille realize their situation, and at the same time, a serious issue arises—if they cannot return to their own era, it means their descendants, including Julia, will also cease to exist. In a desperate situation, Knight Godfrey and his companions begin to search for a way back to the past.
